Dr. Carlo Raj is a physician and medical educator with more than two decades designing and scaling evidence-based curricula across the USMLE, IFOM, and EMREE pathways. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in 2003 and completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination — building a career at the intersection of clinical medicine and the technologies reshaping how it is taught.
His teaching pedigree spans senior medical-education strategy and national lecturing — co-designing integrated Step 1 and Step 2 curricula with Harvard Medical School-affiliated faculty, serving as Medical Director of a national physician review programme, and teaching pathophysiology at the graduate level. In Abu Dhabi he built and directed pre-clerkship medical education at Khalifa University College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and is co-inventor on 15+ healthcare innovation patent applications arising from collaborations with the Advanced Robotics Innovation Center.
He is a physicianeer: a clinician who does not merely teach medicine, but engineers the tools that make mastery faster. Through Indus Intellect — The Physician of Tomorrow — he builds immersive clinical-training ecosystems fusing extended reality, spatial computing and AI-guided instruction. The measured result of deploying that work across an MD programme was a 40% improvement in clinical skill retention — an outcome, not an aspiration.
Apex's Hybrid Intelligence curriculum credits its academic origin to TH Lübeck — the pioneering work of Profs. Hellbrück & Matthies on cyber-physical-human systems. Dr. Carlo Raj is the educator and synthesizer of this field for practicing professionals, not its originator.
